These beautiful birds bring unending
Amusement to our lives.
These chicks are all hand raised in house, that means we raise them ourselves. Generally we let the parent birds hatch the eggs and raise the baby chicks for 12 to 14 days. This is done to allow the baby birds to receive important anti-bodies from the parents. The baby chicks are pulled from the nest and placed in a container, usually a critter cottage with pine shavings at the bottom.
Hand raising chicks is not a task you want to start without getting some background knoledge first, from the internet or a book.
A Heat Light in red is hung over the critter cottage for heat and is left on 24 hours a day. A thermometer is added to keep track of the daily temps to make sure the babies are kept warm enough.
